Principal's Corner
Dear P.S. 16Q Community,
As the proud Principal of P.S.16Q, located in the vibrant heart of Corona, Queens, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunity to serve our wonderful school, now in my second year, and the community we call home.
With over fifteen years of experience in public education and leadership, I have honed a diverse skill set that fosters collaboration at every level—from central offices to school-based and district teams. My commitment to servant leadership is inspired by the rich tapestry of cultures and perspectives within our community. As a transformational leader, I believe in empowering others and creating an atmosphere of trust, collaboration, and continuous growth.
I am dedicated to innovation and lifelong learning, always exploring new strategies to enhance student achievement and well-being. Currently, I am pursuing my doctoral degree at Teachers College, Columbia University, motivated by a deep sense of purpose to nurture a fair and inclusive educational environment where every student can thrive. As an immigrant child who once walked through the doors of P.S. 12Q, it is both surreal and rewarding to give back to the community that shaped me.
When I stepped into the role of Principal, I was eager to lead with integrity, vision, and a student-centered approach. I believe in the power of strong partnerships, as evidenced by my collaborative work with political offices and community-based organizations. Together with our dedicated educators and staff, I am committed to creating a school environment rooted in trust and community-driven values.
Thank you for your continued support and trust in our school. I look forward to the journey ahead and to the opportunities that await as we build a bright future for all our students.
Warm regards,
Katherine Rodriguez
Principal, P.S.16Q
