2:05 Pride Color Walk 06-07-25 Featured
🌈 What an AMAZING day at the inaugural Pride Color Walk on June 7th! 🌈
Uploaded Jun 17, 2025
Created by P.S.19Q’s very own Principal Krystle Jimenez, this walk brought together students, families, and staff from P.S.16, P.S.19, P.S.110, & M.S.311 in a powerful show of unity, support, and celebration for Pride. When schools and families join forces, we create a community where everyone feels seen, supported, and loved—and that’s exactly what we witnessed!
From colorful festivities to joyful laughter, fun was had by all. We can’t wait to see even more of our community come out and celebrate with us next year!
A huge THANK YOU to Principals Krystle Jimenez, Katherine Rodriguez, Elisa Gomez, and Beth Hert for their vision and leadership. Shout out to the incredible staff who worked so hard to make this event a success from planning and coordination, and to NYPD 110pct for keeping everyone safe. Thank you to the Parks Department for letting us kick off at The Park of Americas, and to Success in Motion for helping us make this event truly unforgettable! @elmhurstcommunitypartnership came through with so much love and support! Thank you for your contributions❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙

Civics For All Soapbox Speeches 03-14-25
This school year, we launched the Civics for All initiative to enhance opportunities for students to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for active participation in democracy. Our goal is to empower all students to become engaged community members who think critically and contribute meaningfully to shaping the future of our city and country.
Uploaded Jun 17, 2025
As part of Civics Week, we introduced our students to Project Soapbox, a public speaking initiative that challenges young people to voice their perspectives on issues affecting their communities. Through this initiative, students not only identify and discuss pressing concerns but also propose and advocate for solutions to improve their schools, neighborhoods, and the lives of their peers.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the teachers and students whose dedication and enthusiasm made this event a success. Student voices matter, and initiatives like Project Soapbox reinforce the importance of civic engagement, inspiring young people to drive meaningful change in their communities. -

A Huge Success: Our Inaugural STEM Expo!
Uploaded Apr 02, 2025
Our first-ever STEM Expo was a resounding success! Students showcased their innovative projects to peers, teachers, and families, fostering a school-wide culture of curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving. Hosting a STEM Expo at the elementary level is essential in nurturing young minds, as it promotes hands-on learning, critical thinking, collaboration, and inspires future careers in STEM fields.
A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Rodriguez and our administration for championing STEM education in our school community. We also extend our deepest gratitude to Ms. DeRose and Ms. Pfluger for their dedication and hard work in organizing this milestone event—it was no small feat! To our teachers and students, your projects, presentations, and passion for STEM made this event truly remarkable. A special thanks to all the staff members who contributed to making the Expo a memorable experience. And of course, we sincerely appreciate the families who attended and supported our students.

04-01-25 Playground Grand Opening
🎉 Exciting News for P.S.16 Queens! 🎉
Uploaded Apr 02, 2025
Today, Interim Acting Principal Katherine Rodriguez among our amazing staff- proudly unveiled our brand-new turf and playground area with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony! After more than half a decade without recess, our students finally have a safe and vibrant space to play, socialize, and enjoy the outdoors every day—weather permitting.
Recess is essential for elementary school students, providing them with much-needed physical activity, social interaction, and a mental reset to help them thrive both in and out of the classroom. Seeing the pure joy and excitement on our students’ faces today reminded us just how important it is for kids to have time to run, laugh, and play freely.
A huge thank you to everyone who made this possible—our children deserve this! 💙 💫💛#PS16Queens #RecessReturns #PlayMatters -
