A Huge Success: Our Inaugural STEM Expo! Our first-ever STEM Expo was a resounding success! Students showcased their innovative projects to peers, teachers, and families, fostering a school-wide culture of curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving. Hosting a STEM Expo at the elementary level is essential in nurturing young minds, as it promotes hands-on learning, critical thinking, collaboration, and inspires future careers in STEM fields. A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Rodriguez and our administration for championing STEM education in our school community. We also extend our deepest gratitude to Ms. DeRose and Ms. Pfluger for their dedication and hard work in organizing this milestone event—it was no small feat! To our teachers and students, your projects, presentations, and passion for STEM made this event truly remarkable. A special thanks to all the staff members who contributed to making the Expo a memorable experience. And of course, we sincerely appreciate the families who attended and supported our students. 04-01-25 Playground Grand Opening
🎉 Exciting News for P.S.16 Queens! 🎉 Today, Interim Acting Principal Katherine Rodriguez among our amazing staff- proudly unveiled our brand-new turf and playground area with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony! After more than half a decade without recess, our students finally have a safe and vibrant space to play, socialize, and enjoy the outdoors every day—weather permitting. Recess is essential for elementary school students, providing them with much-needed physical activity, social interaction, and a mental reset to help them thrive both in and out of the classroom. Seeing the pure joy and excitement on our students’ faces today reminded us just how important it is for kids to have time to run, laugh, and play freely. Commonpoint was proud to host New Life CDC at Community School P.S. 16 Queens for a special International Women’s Day celebration with our amazing parents! From refreshments to mindfulness yoga and tabletop painting, families came together to reflect on what brings them joy and meaning. Recognizing International Women’s Day is vital—it teaches the importance of equality, appreciation, and empowerment. Today, our Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd-grade students had the privilege of attending a special author visit! The talented @kianny.antigua captivated everyone with her charismatic and heartfelt presence. Just as her books resonate with readers, Ms. Antigua’s warmth and relatability shine through in person, leaving our students inspired by her visit and personalized book signings.
